OUR TOP FIVE

WHITSTABLE, KENT

Once you’ve visited Whitstable  you'll wonder why you never found it sooner.  A real gem set on the North Kent coastline. There's so much happening wherever you go, whenever you go.  With its traditional working harbour bringing in locally caught lobster, shell fish and various fish you will really enjoy seeing and tasting the seafood from the harbour stalls and cooked up as "catch of the day" in many of the local restaurants.  The harbour also has a cluster of huts with local people selling hand-made goods, artwork and freshly prepared food filling the air.  Amble through them at your leisure.

THE TOP 5 THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT WHITSTABLE...

5. THE HIGH STREET

The high street is somewhere that anyone can easily lose themselves for a morning or afternoon.  Ramble among the boutique shops with local artwork, clothes and a mixture of delicatessen's produce on sale.  There are a number of bespoke vibrant restaurants for you to choose from.  Try a tapas, French cuisine or traditional fish and chips with tables looking out to sea.  Always bustling (but never packed!) with people sitting inside and outside on the pavements.

TOP TIP: Whitstable is a hot spot for famous faces so why not do a bit of celebrity spotting whilst enjoying a lazy day!

4. THE BEACH FRONT

A walk along the front can be short and lazy, stopping and sitting on the groins to watch people from the sailing club or learners wrestling with a windsurf while you enjoy a coffee.  Or if you're in the mood take a longer walk along the footpath that stretches the beaches from Whitstable, through Tankerton slopes towards Herne bay.  The choice is yours and whether you're hot and need a chilled drink or to sit down in a cosy pub there are number of these along the seafront for you to choose from.

3. THE BLACK DOG

Located at no. 66 on the high street The Black Dog is one of the best pubs in Whitstable. Technically a 'micro pub' The Black Dog has an astonishing array of beers to try as well as wines and some light bites to sample.  With an open fire and dog friendly - it is the perfect place to spend an afternoon or evening.

Some Trip Advisors quotes:

"A Faultless Pub"

"Stylish, Humorous, Popular"

"Quaint and Quirky"

"Get In There!"

2. THE LOBSTER SHACK

By far and away our favourite restaurant in Whitstable! With delicious and freshly caught fish served daily - there is no where else we'd rather eat!

Located on the picturesque East Quay on the seafront you can enjoy the incredible sunsets as you sample their tasty menu - which doesn't break the bank either!

WE RECOMMEND: The Cod and Chips!

1. WHITSTABLE OYSTER FESTIVAL & CARNIVAL

Now in it's 32nd year the Whitstable Oyster Festival is a world renowned event that attracts over 80,000 people per year!

With events ranging from Live music and comedy at The Shuck to a vivid street parade and the challenging (and undeniably entertaining) mud tug of war, outdoor cinema screenings and everything mentioned above, each one is unique but guaranteed to be similar in enjoyment.

The incomparability of the festival is matched by a glittering fireworks display gleaming upon the waters of the harbour to close the festivities. The flash finish serves to round off the unmatchable experiences of the week and act as a beautiful reminder to return next year.
